About

Hi There,  My name is Bill Fletcher.  I am a 52 year old dog trying to learn a new trick. It is my goal to learn everything there is to know about the internet.  This will be my third career.  After a fairly trouble free youth, I became a computer engineer at a time when computers occupied entire rooms.  that career lasted about 11 years and then began to morph from a profession that would support a family, to an afterschool job for high school wiz kids.  I jumped off that train in 1986 just in time to catch the very first “refi mania” in the mortgage industry.  I have been there ever since.  Just as my computer career seemed to fade out from under me, the mortgage industry feels like it is headed for changes as well.  I have been keeping my eye on the development of the internet since before it even had pictures.  I think within its shadow lies my next career.

So I started this blog to learn how to blog.   I think eventually everyone will have one. Don’t you?  I invite you to come along.

  1. Hi World, My name is Bill Fletcher. I am a 52 year old mortgage banker at a time when it is no longer OK to be a mortgage banker. Actually mortgage banking was my second career. I spent eleven years as a computer field service engineer back when computers used to take up whole rooms with disk drives and tape drives. I became a mortgage banker in 1986 at a time when the computer field was going through changes. It seemed at the time as though my job was being phased out as people began swapping large mainframes for networks of PCs. I decided then to make a transition to career number two in mortgages. I kind of get the same feeliing now that the mortgage field is about to change. Just as my career in the computer field morphed drastically, the mortgage industry feels like it is headed for a similar kind of change. So, I am feeling like it might be a good time to identify career number three.

I have started this blog to see if blogging might just be the answer to my search for a new career. I plan to blog about learning how to blog. I plan to report back with stories about my experience as an old dog trying to learn new tricks. Of course I will probably need to broaden my scope by comenting on the changes I see happening in the real estate and mortgage industry as I try to make my escape.

I hope to envite some of my old friends in the mortgage industry to submit a post from time to time just to see if I can. I would also like to invite new friends I make in the world of bloggin to contribute as well. If you have an interest in one mans journey through trials and tribulations, I invite you to come along for the ride.

  2. Was looking for information about SB133 and found your website. I liked your suggestion about contacting the Insurance Commissioner. Best wishes in your third career!
